College is a rocky road. You will experience a lot of things, both good and bad. My freshman year wasn’t amazing, but it wasn’t bad either. I learned so many things about myself, and about the college experience in general.
You read a lot of stuff online, there are a lot of movies, TV shows and books about college, but none of them tell you what’s really going to happen: every person’s experience is different. You might live something similar to what is depicted on TV, but you might also live something completely different.
So today, I decided to share with you 13 lessons I learned in my freshman year. I hope these tips might help the freshmen or even older college students to survive their college years!
We hear for years growing up that college will be the best four years of our lives. We watch movies that glamorize Greek life, partying, drinking, and make us think college is all fun. People barely even study in those movies, so how hard can it be? By the time we’re seniors in high school, the questions never stop coming: Where are you going? What are you majoring in? Where is that? Where did you apply? Are you excited? And of course the declarative statement: These will be the best years of your life. No doubt college is fun, there’s freedom that you don’t get in high school and a sense of adventure at every turn. The first time I realized I could go out to a movie at midnight and no one would tell me no or set a curfew turned into a wild night.
Then there’s what people don’t tell you. I just finished my first year in college, and now that finals are behind me I have some time to be able to sit down and reflect and, for the first time in months, simply do nothing. View Post
As you know now, I have summer courses. Just as I have the past semester, I’ll have 5 classes, from Monday to Thursday for the next 13 weeks. For a lot of people, summer means fun, sun and friends, but for me it’ll be work, work, work. As I’ve done in the past, I’ll share with you what my first week of the semester looked like and what my classes are! (Read the fall edition and the winter one!)
Am I the only one who loves answering those “about me” sort of questionnaires? I thought this post would be the perfect opportunity to do the same thing, only, on my own terms. 😉 I realized lately that I have not revealed that much about myself on this blog ever since I’ve started A Wanderer’s Adventures. I’m a bit more open on social media, but even there I’m not that open. I realized that not that many of you actually know me that well, and I thought this tag was the perfect opportunity for you to get to know the blogger behing the blog! So, buckle up because you’re in for 50 facts about me!
These last couple of weeks have been CRAZY. Not only was it finals week, but I had the entire month jampacked with work, papers to hand in, exams to study for and team meetings for class projects. Needless to say that I didn’t have much extra time on my hands!
But now, I can officially say that I’ve survived my first semester at uni! I’m so glad to finally have a little time to relax (two weeks is really too short) and think about something else. Since I’m not working that much and don’t have that many parties to attend during the holidays, I will have plenty of time to sleep, read, binge watch my favorite TV shows on Netflix and, of course, blog!
Since my first semester is now over, I thought of doing a small recap of the things I did wrong and right as a university student! View Post
