My Travel Wishlist

Okay, here is the thing. If there is one thing you need to know about me,¬†it’s that I love making lists. To-do lists, shopping lists, wishlists, bucket lists… and the list goes on. (See what I did there? ūüėČ )

But you should probably also know that I love to travel. I haven’t traveled a lot in my life (I’ve only been to the USA a few times), but every time I have, I simply loved it. I love discovering new places and new cultures.

For as far as I can remember, traveling has always been a dream of mine. Click through to find out what destinations are on my travel wishlist!

This is why today I’ve decided to combine two of the things I love into one and share with you my the¬†top 10 dream destinations that are on my travel wishlist.

 10. London

I’ve never been to Europe, but I’ve always dreamed of going there and visiting every country it has. I guess you could say that I have a weird Europe fascination, so expect most of my dream destinations to be European. London has been in my top destinations for years now, mostly because of Harry Potter and Sherlock. There are so many things I want to visit and see with my own eyes, so many monuments and places that I want to take pictures of. I’ve always wanted to visit England, and London is one my dream cities.

9. India

Asia holds a weird place in my heart. I am fascinated by it, but I’m also scared of it. I guess I could say the same with India. I’m in love with the colorful clothes, the exotic food, and the wonderful traditions. I’ve seen movies located in India and ever since I watched¬†them, I’ve been wanting to go there. If I had the opportunity, I would love to try to do yoga in an ashram, eat the amazing food and go to an Indian wedding. I want to get to know to this foreign, exotic, rich culture, even if it scares me.

8. Japan

The same things about India apply to Japan. If you had asked me a few months ago, Japan wouldn’t have been a part of this list. But in one of my classes in CEGEP, a girl came to present her trip to Japan and I fell in love.¬†The way she talked about it, the pictures she shared and her experience made me want to live something similar too. Japan, a country of contradictions. A place where the modern lives next to the traditional. The food and the culture have me obsessed, and now I really want to experience it where it all began.

7. Vienna

Let’s be honest, if it wasn’t for my German class, I would never have added this European city to my list. I’ve learned so much about it in college, it would be a shame not to be able to see all of this for real. All the castles, the food, and the historical monuments have me dreaming. And I’d like to get an opportunity to finally practice my German for real.

6. Greece

Greece has some of the most beautiful landscapes in my opinion. The blue sea, the little villages right next to the ocean,¬†and the cute and typical little houses make me want to go really badly. From what I’ve seen in movies, this country seems beautiful. It’s also full of history since it is one of the first occidental countries. Being a mythology lover, I’d love to visit Athens and learn more about its history and monuments.

5. Barcelona

I don’t know why, but I’ve always thought of Barcelona, and Spain in general,¬†as sunny, warm and colorful. This is a place where I could see myself spending the summer. I want to see the Sagrada Familia, the G√ľell Park, and everything else¬†the city has to offer. It would also give me a good opportunity to practice my Spanish.

4. Monte Carlo

Ever since I watched the movie Monte Carlo, I’ve been wanting to visit this city.¬†The warm, sunny weather of this place is what attracts me the most.¬†I want to go on France’s beaches, visit the place and stay at the H√ītel de Paris.

3. Amsterdam

Okay, this one has totally everything to with the book Just One Day and The Fault In Our Stars movie. Amsterdam had never really caught my attention before, but after I read the book and saw the movie, I really want to go. Take a bike and roll down one of the canals, try the delicious food and visit the many places the city has to offer.

2. Italy

Italy and I have been in a¬†long-term relationship for years. When I was in high school, my final IB project was an Italy travel guide, where I wrote¬†about the history and culture of the country, but I also presented five cities, the ones that seemed the most important to me. Then, in college, I had a class where we had to plan a fictional (or not)¬†trip to anyplace we chose. Of course, I chose Italy.¬†For years now, I’ve been in love with a country that I’ve never set a foot in. Visiting the artistic Florence, walk along the Venetian¬†canals, eat gelato in front of the roman Colosseum…

1. Paris

Oh Paris, mon amour… Paris and I have a love¬†story that goes waaaay back. Not only is it the most romantic city in the world, it is also the one where dreams come true. Anything can happen in Paris. The food seems absolutely delicious, the city is totally beautiful and the culture leaves me speechless. I wish I could go to Paris so bad, live the typical Parisian lifestyle… Everything about Paris makes me dream. I’m actually considering moving there for good once I finish university. I could talk about my love for Paris for hours. I’m planning to make a trip to France once I finish university, so maybe my dream will come true, who knows?

  • Great list! I loved The Fault in Our Stars too and that does really make you want to go there. Most of these places are still on my list but then I love Italy so much that I keep wanting to go back. Maybe living over there is the answer – then all those other places wouldn’t be so far away.

    • Thank you! And yes, if I moved to one of those places permanently, the rest would be a lot closer and I’d probably be able to visit all of those places!
