Life Lately: Vol. 3

It hasn’t been that long since my last life update, but I feel like a lot has been going on since the last time I wrote an update. A chapter of my life ended, and a new one is about to begin. I have a lot planned in the next couple of weeks, so I thought I would give you a heads up. So here’s what has been going on in my life lately:

End of internship

On Friday, a big chapter of my life finally ended. As you know, I’ve been on an internship since January. I was living the 8-5 work life and was working my ass off. And while I’m glad this part of my life is now over because there are so many great things to come, I cannot help but be a little sad to have to leave it all behind. The team I worked with welcomed me amongst them with open arms, and for that, I will forever be grateful. They made me feel like I was more than an intern. I was part of their team. I met amazing people and had great opportunities through this internship. I considered many of my colleagues as friends, so I’m sad to leave that behind me. Hopefully we can meet again… I have learned so much through this internship and have grown a lot as a student, as someone on the workforce, and as a person. This internship has changed me, and for the better, I believe. It was an incredible experience and I hope that my next one is just as awesome!

Plans for the summer

As I will finally have some free time on my hands and a bit of time before I leave for the UK, I want to make sure I make the best out of it. So I started making plans for my 5 weeks of vacation. I will be attending a wedding and a brunch this weekend, so there’s that to look forward to. I’m getting my hair done on Thursday, and I just cannot wait. I’m definitely going to thin my hair (because mine is SO thick!), and that’s going to make all the difference in the world. There might or might not be a color-changing involved, so stay tuned for that! 😉 I’m also going to see Le Cirque du Soleil in Trois-Rivières next week and I’m super excited! We bought tickets for my dad’s birthday in June, so now I just cannot wait. I’ve never seen Le Cirque du Soleil before, but I’ve heard many great things about them. I also have a pub crawl planned for one of my BFFs’ 21th birthday and I’m really looking forward to it! We never really go out together, so that will be fun. I’m also hoping to go hiking with my mom, go to the beach with my family, and finally go to Foresta Lumina, among other things.

Preparation for studying abroad

It just hit me that I’m leaving for the UK in five. little. weeks. That’s 35 days. Whaaat? I definitely do not feel ready. I have so much to do! I have to make a bank appointment, sort out my insurance situation, pay my tuition fees, figure out my cell phone situation, and start buying stuff for my trip, among other things. I’m definitely going to be busy preparing in the next couple weeks. I’m planning on writing at least one other post about study abroad preparation before I leave, so stay tuned!

Books I’ve read

This segment contains affiliate links, which means that for every purchase made through the links, I get a small commission. I promise you won’t get charged a cent more! Thank you for supporting A Wanderer’s Adventures.

I’ve read quite a few books in the past month! I was on a Netflix purge, so I tried to read instead to pass the time. And it did work! I’m almost back on schedule according to my Goodreads challenge. So here’s what I read this month:

I saw that Indigo/Chapters had a big sale on YA books in July (it was 5 books for $25!), so I bought a bunch of them. The one title that I really wanted was out of stock, but I found other books that seemed to be really good! I’ve only read two of them so far, but I think I have enough reading material for the rest of the summer. (Or not, haha. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.)

Blogging

Now that I’m on vacation, I will finally have some time to dedicate to blogging. July was an amazing for me in terms of stats, so I’m hoping August will be even better! Now that I actually have some time to dedicate to the blog, I’m planning on improving my blog in every way that I can. That includes content, blog design, and social media content! I’m super close to hitting some pretty important milestones (almost 1,000 followers on Twitter!), and I have a cool project in the works so it’s all super exciting.

However, while I do want to bring you awesome content in August, I’m not quite sure what to write about. I know it’s back-to-school season and I should be bringing you tons of college-related content, but I’m just not feeling inspired this year. I’m planning on posting something new at least once a week, but I’m hoping to increase how many times I post per week (to 2 or even 3?). If you have any requests or suggestions, please feel free to send them my way!

Every month I try to focus on a new social media platform. This means that I will give this platform my everything and try to learn the ins and outs of it. This month, it’s Instagram. I’ve been struggling with growing my Instagram for the longest time, and I think my biggest problem is with consistency. I think I’ve pretty much mastered the art of taking better photos and editing them, but I will post once and then go MIA for two weeks. This is no way to grow your Instagram! So this month, I’m trying to post 6 days a week. This month should be more eventful, which means I should have more content to post. Let’s hope this strategy works out so I can reach my goal! By the way, make sure to follow me on Instagram if you aren’t already! 😉

That’s it! The next few weeks are going to be quite busy, but it’s all so exciting! A new chapter of my life is about to begin and I’m just so excited for it. What has been going on in your life lately?

  • I love your idea of focusing on a different social media platform each month! That may be something I try out myself. I feel like I spread myself so thin trying to expand on each one of them at the same time. Hope you have a great summer!

    • I have been doing that since the beginning of the year, and it has worked really well for me so far. Like you said, I feel like I spread myself thing when I try to work on all social media platforms at once, so I find that having a system that allows me to focus on each one at a different time helps me really grow. I don’t have to worry about the other platforms too much that way. 😉 Hope you have (or had?) a great summer too!

  • Such a great post, and congrats on finishing your internship! I have just two more days at mine before I relax for a week and head back to college. I would love to hear more about your internship experience! Like, what things you learned, tips for standing out, etc. I feel like this summer my internship was extremely challenging because it was with a much bigger company, and I’d love to learn from others’ experiences as well! 🙂 I hope you have a great time in the UK! I’m really hoping I can squeeze in another travel opportunity before I graduate!

    • Thank you so much for your kind words, Elizabeth! I’m definitely adding the Lake District to my list. I’m going to try to experience as much of the UK as I can while I’m there, so I’m open to all suggestions! 🙂
