Life Lately: Vol. 1

One of the things I’ve been asked to do more often on the blog is open up about my personal life. I’ve always felt like my personal life wasn’t that interesting, but I guess you guys are just as nosy as I am! (lol) However, in the last couple of months, my life has been pretty busy. So busy that I barely had time to invest in the blog. So I thought I would start a new series called Life lately where I would share life updates every once in a while with you! Hopefully, that will help you have a better idea of what is going in my life at the moment. So here’s what’s been happening in my life lately:

Internship

For the last five months, I’ve been a marketing intern at Uni-Select in Boucherville. This is what has kept me so busy in the last few months and it’s the reason why I didn’t have the time or energy to be blogging as much as I used to. So far, I’ve been loving it! I’m working mostly in sponsorships and social media, and I’m having a blast! I recently wrote a blog post describing my life as a marketing intern if you want to get a better idea of what it’s like. I still have a strong 12 weeks (or 3 months) to go before my internship is over, and I have to admit that I’ll be sad when I have to leave. I’ve learned so much in the past five months and the team has been so nice to me that I’ll be sad when it’s all over.

Last week, my internship gave me an amazing opportunity to go to Quebec City at Fairmont Le Château Frontenac to help with an event that I’ve been helping organizing. This was not only an incredible learning experience, but it’s also been a great way to get to know my colleagues better. We’ve all been thriving on less than 5 hours of a sleep every night, drinking more than we probably should, and overall enjoying ourselves while also kicking ass as the organizing team.

Going back to school in September

One of the things I was dreading the most when I first started this internship was going back to school in August/September. Not going to college for eight months after an intense first 16 months sure has a way of not making you want to go back.

But, as I announced in this post, I recently found out that I have been accepted to study abroad in the UK this fall! You have no idea how excited I am. Traveling to Europe has been one of my dreams for as long as I can remember, and I can’t believe it’ll finally become true in just a couple of months! So of course lately I’ve been knee-deep in preparation, looking everything up from visas, insurance, packing tips, and airplane tickets. I am nowhere near ready right now, but I’m also hoping I’ll be able to sneak a couple of weekend getaways to some European cities (Paris, Barcelona, Italy, and Amsterdam are some of the spots on top of my bucket list).

Moving out

While I’m on my internship in Boucherville, I’ve been renting a room in a house. I was supposed to stay there until my internship was over, but I recently found out that my landlord sold the house and that I’ll have to move out before July 15. What sucks is that it falls three weeks before my internship ends. So right now I’m trying to find another living situation that won’t decimate my bank account for the remaining 3 weeks of my internship.

Reading

As you might know, one of my goals for the year is to read 60 books. So far I’ve only read 14 books, which means that I’m 7 books behind schedule (lol). So lately I’ve been trying to read more books, in the hope that I’ll be able to catch up on my challenge. I recently read The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer and You Know Me Well by David Levithan & Nina De La Cour, and I’m currently reading The Last of August by Brittany Cavallero. I also finally bought Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han, so I’m hoping to reread To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and PS I Still Love You before I jump into the last opus of the trilogy. I also have plans to buy other books this summer, so stay tuned! You can follow me on Goodreads to stay up to date on my reading journey.

Netflix

I feel like Netflix’s game has been hella strong lately. Or maybe I have just made the right choices… Anyways, I’ve been watching a lot of TV shows lately, and all of them have been soooo good! Of course, I have watched 13 Reasons Why and have been totally obsessed with it. The cast is so talented and portrayed their characters to perfection. I think this show conveys a strong message and every teenager should watch it. Netflix also recently released the second season of my favorite TV show, Sense8, and OMG IT WAS JUST SO GOOD! I finished the last episode and was simply flabbergasted. I cannot wait for the third season! I finished watching Riverdale this weekend and while this wasn’t my favorite TV show, the finale really surprised me! Finally, I started watching Dear White People and I think the show is amazing. It depicts racism so well and I just love the cast.

Blogging

Finally, let’s talk about blogging. Things have not been going so well since we started the new year. I had an extra strong month in January, but then everything started dropping in February. It’s true that I haven’t had as much time and energy to invest in the blog lately, but my stats have dropped a lot. It’s still better than what it used to be last fall, but there’s a huge difference with December-January. I’m hoping to get back in my game this summer and bring you A+ content so I can finally start reaching my goals.

What has been going on in your life lately?
